The Maryland community came together for a the fifth annual Terp Thon last weekend, a dance marathon that raises money for the Children’s National Medical Center.

Terp Thon is a year-round, student-run organization that works to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in Washington D.C. For the past five years, the 12-hour dance marathon has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars with the help of Greek chapters, campus, clubs and other student organizations who remember one thing: it’s for the kids.

The event brings together the campus community for a day of “partying with a purpose.” Through stories of survival and energetic morale captains, students strive to make it the full 12 hours to support the children and their families.

Though it’s only in its fifth year, Terp Thon has become one of the top ten dance marathons in the country. Each year, the total amount the event raises has increased, with this year’s total landing at $429,012.89.
