Mother's Day Gifts She Will Adore

By Jessi Stickel on April 27, 2015

It’s almost May, and that means Mother’s Day is just around the corner (May 10, 2015.) It can be tough trying to find the perfect gift for your mom while trying to find something she doesn’t already have! Here are some pretty great gift ideas to surprise Mom on her special day and remind her how much you appreciate all that she does.

ORIGAMI OWL

An Origami Owl necklace or bracelet is the perfect gift for moms that like wearing jewelry. The best part is that you pick out everything. First you pick your locket and chain or bracelet, they have many colors and styles, then the fun part, you pick your charms. Origami Owl has several categories of charms like animals, food/drink, sports, special occasions and many more. You can find cute blue flip flops, a wine glass, a hummingbird, a “MOM” heart, the breast cancer symbol, a cross, nail polish, birthstones, etc. You’ll want to order them all.

SHUTTERFLY GIFTS

If you haven’t heard of Shutterfly yet you’re missing out! Shutterfly is this amazing website where you can personalize items with your own pictures. From photo books, phone cases, mugs, blankets, and more, this place has everything! Definitely consider getting a photo book of Mom and the family, or maybe your last vacation together. A personalized phone case with a photo of you and her is a great gift as well, one that she’ll use every day. If Mom is a coffee lover you can even personalize a mug in many styles, colors and pictures. Your mother will love savoring those great memories, and love you even more that you thought of it.

*TIP: Some of these items can get expensive, but there are always coupons on sites like Retailmenot and Groupon. Make sure you find a coupon before completing your order.*

BASKETS

Wine and Chocolate

If your Mom is a big wine drinker, put together a wine and chocolate basket. Buy a few bottles of her favorite wine, a box of her favorite chocolates, and maybe throw in a cute wine glass (Hallmark/Christmas Tree Shop.)

Color Pop

If you really have no clue what the heck your mother would want for Mother’s Day a color basket is the way to go. Using your mom’s favorite color, find a bunch of things she likes or would use in that color. Things like flip flops, candy, kitchen appliances, lip balm, candles, etc.

Spa Day

If your mother goes to the nail salon, getting her a gift card to her salon would be a great idea. Now your mom can enjoy her next mani/pedi even more because she won’t have to pay for it. Instead of just handing her the gift card, buy a small basket and fill it with spa essentials like a magazine, lotions, aloe socks, and maybe even a pair of slipper flip flops. However, remember if you are on a budget you don’t have to spend too much on the basket items, since the main gift is the salon gift card. Either way, your mom will appreciate the mani/pedi and an excuse to relax for once.

Movie Night Basket

If Mom is a movie lover, make her the ultimate movie night basket. Use a giant popcorn bucket as the basket (Dollar Store), get about 5 boxes of candy she likes, of course a bunch of popcorn bags, her favorite soda, and a couple movies that she would like, but hasn’t seen yet. Movie lovers will adore this basket, and you can get the whole family together for a movie night. More memories for your mother to cherish!

Cookie Jar “Basket”

This is a neat way to give Mom kitchen appliances and baking ingredients. You use a clear jar, like a cookie jar, as the basket. You can put in all the non-perishable ingredients to make cookies. Cookie dough in the bag, sprinkles, icing, a cookie scoop, an oven glove, a non-stick baking mat and spring cookie cutters. You could even bake cookies to put in the jar, it will be nice for her to get the cookies for a change.

For Children Out of Town

“Food is the way to a heart.”

If you don’t want to go with the typical sending flowers on Mother’s Day, send a delicious dozen chocolate covered strawberries (Shari’s Berries)  or a fruit bouquet (Edible Arrangements.) Flowers are great and all, but Mom will really be able to enjoy this gift. Food can be pretty too!   *TIP: You can get coupons for these items as well on Retailmenot and Groupon*

So even if you don’t spend a lot on her gift, make sure your mom knows how much you appreciate her this Mother’s Day. We all know being a mom isn’t always easy…
