1. Halsey. The stage name for Ashely Frangipane, Halsey is a young and talented singer-songwriter who will release her first full album this August. She released an EP, called “Room 93,” in April and has performed on a few TV shows and been featured in several interviews. Halsey’s currently touring as an opening act for Imagine Dragons on their Smoke and Mirrors summer tour.

Halsey’s voice is interesting and sometimes has a breathy quality to it while on other tracks her voice comes off strong and almost synthetic, but it’s not. Check out her songs “Trouble,” “Hurricane,” “Ghost” and “Hold Me Down.”

2. James Bay. This British singer-songwriter’s star is on the rise as he released “Chaos and the Calm,” his first full-length studio album, in March. The record included the indie pop-folk rock singles “Let It Go” and “Hold Back the River,” which already has over 36.7 million hits on YouTube. Bay’s also released several EPs and toured with “Take Me to Church” singer Hozier in 2014.

With his unique melodic voice, Bay’s style is individual and somewhat Joshua Radin-esque. Besides his two singles, you should also check out Bay’s songs “If You Ever Want to Be in Love” and “Scars.”

3. Vance Joy. The Australian singer-songwriter released his debut EP “God Loves You When You’re Dancing” back in March 2013 and just recently released his debut studio album “Dream Your Life Away” in September 2014. He’s most known for his hit song “Riptide” which really launched his career beyond Australia.

Joy’s currently opening for Taylor Swift this summer on her 1989 tour at her North American dates. In fact, T-Swift herself is quite the fan of Joy and she actually performed a cover of his song “Riptide” on BBC’s Live Lounge segment this past October; the video’s garnered over 7.3 million hits on YouTube. Besides his big hit, check out Vance Joy’s songs “Mess Is Mine,” “First Time,” and “Georgia.”

4. Elle King. King released her debut album, “Love Stuff” in February, with the song “Ex’s & Oh’s” serving as her lead single. In 2013, she released her four-song EP called “The Elle King EP” which featured the songs “Playing for Keeps” and “Good To Be A Man.”

Elle King is actually the singer-songwriter’s stage name as she was born Tanner Elle Schneider, the daughter of former “Saturday Night Live” cast member and comedian Rob Schneider. King’s toured with and opened for some impressive bands and artists, including Of Monsters and Men, Train, Dashboard Confessional, James Bay and Ed Sheeran.

Besides her first single off her most recent album, you should also check out her songs “Last Damn Night,” “Ain’t Gonna Drown,” and “Under the Influence.”

5. Banks. Jillian Rose Banks, better known simply as the singer-songwriter Banks, released her debut album “Goddess” in September 2014, which debuted in the U.S. at number 12. Before that, she released two well-received EPs: “Fall Over” in March 2013, and “London” in September 2013.

Numerous media outlets have lauded and called Banks an artist to watch since 2013, including Vogue, iTunes, Billboard, Spotify, and The Boston Globe. She toured as the opening act for The Weeknd during his tour in fall 2013 and also performed in 2014 at the Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Open’er Festivals.

Banks has also had several of her songs appear on “Grey’s Anatomy” episodes, with “Waiting Game” and “You Should Know Where I’m Coming From” featured on an episode in October 2014, while her song “Goddess” was featured in a March 2015 episode.

Besides her songs featured on “Grey’s Anatomy,” you should also check out “Warm Water,” “Drowning,” and “Beggin for Thread.”

6. Charlie Puth. The name should be familiar to you already — he’s featured on Wiz Khalifa’s number one song “See You Again,” which appeared on the “Furious 7″ soundtrack and was written as a tribute to the late actor Paul Walker and his relationship with fellow actor Vin Diesel. Puth, a singer-songwriter, actually penned the hit track too.

Puth was discovered on YouTube as he frequently posted videos of him singing acoustic covers of various songs. Ellen DeGeneres actually signed him to her label but he’s since left and signed with Atlantic Records. In May, Puth released his EP, “Some Type of Love” which included his debut single “Marvin Gaye,” which features the vocals of “All About That Bass” singer Meghan Trainor.

Besides his first single, you should also check out his songs “Some Type of Love,” “I Won’t Tell A Soul,” and “Suffer.”

So if you haven’t already heard of or been listening to these six artists on the rise, you definitely need to check them out and add them to your playlists for this summer.
