Looking to Laugh? Here's Five Netflix Comedies to Binge Watch

By Kevin Vote on July 2, 2015

Looking to laugh this summer? Netflix is a great source to binge watch any show that the popular streaming site has the rights to upload, including its own original content as well. Here’s five comedies on Netflix that are binge-worthy, especially this summer.

1. Arrested Development

“Arrested Development” is about a family that puts the fun in dysfunctional. Michael Bluth and his son George Michael take care of the entire Bluth family, who all live off of their family-owned real estate company in beautiful Southern California and are all out of touch with reality in their own special ways.

The show has developed a cult following since being cancelled, which led to Netflix buying the rights to the show in order to produce a fourth season exclusively on the streaming site. Netflix is planning to release the fifth season soon, so there’s no better time than this summer to catch up on the family’s wacky wrongdoings.

2. The League

Set in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, “The League” is a mostly improv-comedy that follows the lives of a group of guys who are in a fantasy football league together every year. This show has a little bit of everything for everyone: football jokes and player cameos, as well as situation humor regarding the interactions between the families of the fantasy football group.

“The League” is set to release its seventh and final season in the fall, so catch up quick!

3. Archer

“Archer” is an adult cartoon about a spy agency, in particular the woman who runs it and her son, Sterling Archer, who happens to be the world’s most dangerous spy … when he’s not drunk. Even when Archer is drinking (which occurs in Bond-like fashion throughout the show), he manages to stumble his way into relative success after relative success.

The show has deviated from its traditional spy agency format in the past few seasons, and it looks set to change again this next season in spectacular style, as signs point to Archer and his friends becoming similar to The A-Team.

4. The Inbetweeners

“The Inbetweeners” is a British comedy that will make American viewers reminisce about the first time they saw “Superbad.” The show is about four friends who live in a suburb in England, and each episode catalogs their awkward experiences as they attempt to navigate through high school.

Two movies were made after the show ended, and both are on Netflix and available for instant streaming. “The Inbetweeners” is one of the most hilarious shows British television has to offer.

5. The Boondocks

Originally a satirical comic strip in many national newspapers, “The Boondocks” morphed into a great adult cartoon show in 2005. All four seasons were recently added to Netflix, and the show has no current plans for a fifth season as creator Aaron McGruder is currently working on another show after a rumored dispute over the direction of “The Boondocks” in season four of the show.

Regardless, “The Boondocks” is an instant classic that can and should be binge watched seeing as the complete series is now on Netflix to enjoy.

Honorable Mentions: Peep Show, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Louie, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, The Office, Blue Mountain State
