As for his personality, Falvey's pretty friendly and has great stories. He memorizes people he notices and will call on you on a first-name basis, but isn't bothered if you don't know the answer. I got an A, but I'd say you still have to study for it. I actually learned a decent amount of material for orgo- more than my chem231 class- so it's a good trade. And imo, it's probably one of the best out there. :)
He is easy to understand
Huge curve
Extra credit clicker quizzes every lecture
Recycles questions
Cons: none
just do the practice problem/exams, similar problems are on the actual exams
Cons: last page of exam can be tricky if you haven't studied
Cons: His lectures are somewhat unorganized sometimes but it usually doesn't get in the way of him getting his points across
-likes to relate orgo material to real world situations and likes to send out articles on the chemistry we learn in class that is relative to current events
Cons: -likes to call on people during class to stir up a discussion so if you definitely should be paying attention in lecture and know whats going on in the class
gives a nice curve at the end of the course. his tests are fair and are based off/similar to old exams so practicing with those will be a great help.
Cons: He simply re-uses his old exams from past semesters which aren't relevant anymore seeing as they were based on the material from an old orgo textbook the class used to use.
Will explain things thoroughly
Cons: Tangents sometimes, hard to follow, but tangents are ALWAYS interesting.
Cons: goes fast and often screws up things on the board
Cons: weird curve
Cons: exams are pretty tough, but easier than other professors
Dr. Falvey is a good professor. He is fair in his exams and is willing to help you if you go into his OH. I didn't really have many complaints about his teaching.
Cons: its stil orgo
