Engaging
Dinosaurs and evolution. Can't go wrong!
Lots of extra credit
Easy-going and personable prof
Online exams with 5 day time limit, except in-class final exam
Cons: The group project at the end of the year was a pain
I loved this class! Holtz is obviously well-versed in the subject and seems to have fun teaching it. The homework was sometimes rather complicated, but with some dedicated time and basic reading-comprehension skills, it wasn't too bad.
Cons: There are relatively few concerns worth mentioning here.
Having SGC lecture with Holtz and Merck is a painless obligation, you may even learn a thing or two from these whacky dinosaur/invertebrate paleontologists :]
Cons: Workload involves two trips to Natural History Museum and watching videos at the library -- be prepared to do some extra planning to get work done
Class isn't necessary, as projects out of class and exams with review sheets are the only graded parts of the class
Cons: none!
Cons: Topic is not that interesting, chooses favorites, annoying work
Cons: course too much memorization
Cons: He's kind of pretentious
Cons: Can't say I can think of anything negative about this guy.
Cons: nothing at all
take a class by him
